Saturday and Sunday, 20 & 21 Feb, 2010 — Worked on the children

This weekend, I finished painting the Beck children’s memorial (before and after):

The Beck children – Harry, Emily, Scottie, and Eddie – all died of cholera in a 2-week time period.  The youngest was 2 and the oldest was 8.  They were the children of Harry and Bessie Beck.  Harry, who was born in Ireland in 1854 and came to the US in 1865, was a landscape gardener/Superintendent of the Grounds at the University of Texas.  Harry and Bessie did have four more children after these died.

Cleaned  Mr. Decker’s Stone (before and after):

Joseph Decker was the son of Theodore and Lillie Decker.   Theodore was a farmer born in Pennsylvania in 1840.  Lillie was born in Texas in 1861.  They had at least 8 more children.  Theodore had died by 1910, and Lilly moved to Oklahoma with the children.
