The Three Cedar Trees

3 Cedar Trees Facing East

Against the back fence in the center of the Pond Springs Cemetery stands 3 Cedar Trees. I believe that at one time a 4th tree existed. The missing tree may have died in a drought, like the one we are experiencing at present, when it was young or cut down for a Christmas Tree years later. Whatever happened to the 4th tree it s gone and with the other 3 trees would have made a square. The trees I believe would  have marked a small family plot. Family plots were sometimes marked with trees or bushes to show their boundaries while at other times a fence was established. Wood and wire fences rotted away after a few years so plants were much more permanent and inexpensive. There is 1 possibly 2 graves within the area but they are not identifiable making them “Unknown”. One grave has a damaged homemade headstone with the initials A. L. W. This plot is adjacent to the Richards’ Family Plot and they may be related. If anyone reading this knows the family or the identity of A.L.W. please contact this blog.
