The Riffe Family

John RIFFE was born in Alabama in 1833  (likely Jackson County), to Christopher (born 1790-1800) and Elizabeth (STAPP?) RIFFE.   He died in Georgetown Texas 4 July 1881.  Some family researchers claim that Christopher RIFFE was a nephew – and some claim that he was a son – of General Christopher Riffe, War of 1812, first settler of Casey County Kentucky.  So, John would be the grand-nephew – or grandson – of a War of 1812 general.

John RIFFE married Permelia MAXWELL in Burnet County Texas in 1855.  Permelia was born in Tennessee in May 1833, and died 6 July 1910.  I am currently unable to determine where she died and is buried; she may be buried in Pond Springs.  Known children of John and Permeila (MAXWELL) RIFFE:
