The Irises Are Blooming, The Irises Are Blooming

2 Iris Beds and Garcia Grave

The Irises of Pond Springs Cemetery are blooming! The Irises of Pond Springs Cemetery like the wet, mild, winter we are having this year. The irises were planted long ago and by whom we do not know. Every year in the late winter or early spring a few have always bloomed but this year almost every plant is blooming. In the Spanish culture it is not uncommon to plant flowers on top or around a grave in a circle. The 2 circles of Irises at Pond Springs Cemetery would lend one to think that 2 infant graves were marked in this way forever identifying their existence and site. I recently placed a border around the plants for better protection during mowing and added garden soil to help the plants thrive and bloom to their fullest. These Irises are considered a true icon of the cemetery and should be protected from loss due to sever weather conditions whether it is extreme hot or cold.  — Buster
